AN EVENING OF MARRIAGE, DIVORCE AND ANNULMENTS

TBA

In the Large Faith Sharing Room

The Catholic Church considers Christian marriage to be a sacrament.  What does that mean?  If marriage is a sacrament, how can the Church declare a marriage to be invalid?  What is necessary for a valid marriage?  What does the Church examine when looking at a declaration of nullity case?  Are restrictions placed on a divorced and/or remarried Catholic?

Fr. Jim and Deacon Mark will address the Church’s teaching on marriage, divorce, remarriage, and the declaration of nullity process (annulments).  As part of the discussion, there will be an opportunity for your questions.

If you have questions or concerns about Church teachings on marriage, divorce and declarations of nullity, please join us.  And, if you know of anyone in our St. Dominic community who may benefit from this evening, please invite them to attend.

Many of our parishioners are among those Catholics who somehow feel separated or alienated, due to marriage issues.  Some of them have felt this way for years, perhaps because so much misinformation abounds.  Unfortunately, many people remain alienated because of something they were told, or because of the way that the information was presented to them.  The pastoral staff of St. Dominic Parish is committed to bringing reconciliation to all God’s people.

We hope that this evening will lead everyone in attendance to a better understanding of the Church’s teaching on marriage, as well as Christ’s presence in our lives and the life of His Church.

We hope to see you there.

Fr. Jim

Deacon Mark
